The story behind the decals
Well , if some one does a restoration , the decals is the cherry on the pie , the final tough.
Even if all other parts of the AX-1 can be found worldwide as new , or even second hand , the decals is not available anywhere else than Japan .
Yes you have to go direct to the source, for this items .
The mother Honda in Japan , keeps this decals stored and spread in two or three main factory 's.
When a Japanese store owner gets in the Honda parts software , asking for AX-1 decals with the part code , he gets listing of what decals are available , and in which city is the Honda factory , that its decal is stored to.
I had write my self as a member in a Japanese forum , and I asked for help, in finding the decals, one good Japanese man contacted me, and voluntarily he offered his help .
I did select the decals that I need , but unfortunately Honda's AX-1 stock of Decals, drops to zero by the day .
The front cowl AX-1 emblem ( gray dark – silver color AX-1) is not available any more , and that’s final .
Other two decals , that is out of stock and NLA ( No Longer Available) , are the large AX-1 decals of the main fairing ( at list for the black teal-green AX-1 ) .
All that I manage to get , are the cowl stripes - the “Sport Traverse” ones , and the “Pro link” swing arm decals .
I was and I am very frustrated , with the idea that Honda do not have them , and no one else as third party company , making or offers them worldwide !!
Few words about the original decals , this decals is actually printed , they are printed on a special paper , made by another Japanese company called as Lintec .
Lintec is a company dedicated to making very high quality products , one of this is the special paper for decals and product labels .
This paper, its a special material , with four layers, a) glue b) vinyl c) paint trap d) weather proof protection. (Its like a high quality photo paper for ink-jet printers.)
Lintec is the supplier of this special material , and it sales it, for industrial use , for example making water proof labels for products.
Well , I found allot about the Lintec , but I can not found who actually printed this decals, for the Honda corp .
Finding decals, made from simple vinyl sheet, its easy , but I wanted the originals no matter what.
Now , I know that there is no stock of the originals , and I have to live with this fact .

My souvenir from Japan
Thanks to a good Japanese man ( Mr. Yoshi) , I managed to get this valuable to me , load of decals .
The decals cost me plus shipping, as 75$ US . (75.00 USD=48.64 EUR)
If you imagine that in EU , Honda partners sells this parts for 25-37 € its one , you can imagine the size of the rip off .
Yes I am very happy that I got them , even if by my fault , I had to ask for a second order ( small mixing with the part codes ) , but even that way, I got double quantity of side stripes , that I plan to add them on my SHOEI helmet ,and it will become ,one extension of the motorcycle.
Thank you again mister Yoshi, this simple action of your side , gave me so much joy , that I can not describe it with words .

CAUTION !! EBAY Seller and AX-1 decals
Well , I am not a bad person , but now that I have my voice !! on the WEB , I feel strongly the wish , to publicly flame this person , who had fill up the web , with the advertise of making AX-1 decals on EBAY .
This seller called as “realdecals” ( Malta EU) claims that offer decals for the AX-1 , and I did trust him and order the decals .
I got one package with decals , but !! the large fairing decals was in wrong size , almost two complete centimeters smaller than the original in all dimensions .
The front stripes was small lines like the dashes of the MORS code .
The middle color was white , good God !! were did he see that !!
The rear “Spor Traverse” Decals was almost OK , with white lines instead of silver too .
To make a long story short , I did communicate with the man ,and I did ten hours of work, to measure and photograph my original decals , so to help him = to help me .... instead of cooperation ... he denied to help, and accused me that my motorcycle is not a Genuine AX-1 .
All that I wanted, was to help him , and by this way to help and any other AX-1 owner , so to get an acceptable set of decals .
I nailed him down to Pay pal, and got my half money back, because the decals was unacceptable for use.
I will admit , that the quality of his decals was OK , but I still feel very vexatiously about the all story , I wanted decals ... not postage stamps !!
Simply avoid him ... and be careful , he has two or three sites, with deferent names (xtreemedecals.com)
If you see this decals promo image ... Simply move away from this source .
You can easily distinguish one bad imitation of decals , by checking the symbol one , at the AX-1 logo .
The good copy must have the number one completely straight , no inclination at all
Also the stripes (cowl and rear plastics) was made with wrong color lining !!
Do I ask too much ??
Decals Made in Greece
Under my own instructions , a local company accepted to cooperate , in order to make my side decals , the materials are from the highest quality brand known to me ...3M
I moved one step further and select reflective material , for the logo AX-1 & Honda .. that makes allot of deference in the dark.
The cost, go a bit high , as I made three sets of them, for 45€ for all three .
The result are perfect as expected ...
